Renowned Composer to Appear IN CONCERT with the Green Valley Concert Band
Dr. Frank Ticheli, one of America's most well known composers of orchestral, choral, chamber, and concert band works, will conduct his music during the GVCB's April 2027 concert. Dr. Ticheli has received numerous artistic honors, including the Distinguished Service to Music Medal and the Arts and Letters Award. Ticheli was born in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from L.V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas and earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Southern Methodist University. He went on to receive his master's and doctoral degrees in composition from the University of Michigan. He lives in Los Angeles, California, where he is a Professor of Composition at the University of Southern California.
His many compositions include: An American Elegy (2008), There Will be Rest (2000), Blue Shades (2007) and Loch Lomond (2002); all standards in concert band repertoire.
